Wicked Sharp - Digital Hei Matau by soupcan13 Wicked Sharp - Digital Hei Matau by soupcan13
Black Resin with a faux metallic treatment - Sooooooo I got back my "digital hooks" and this is the first one completed(white is soaking in tea right now to give it some depth and shading) Happy with how close it came out to my initial design, but I have a lot to learn about working digitally.

The design turned out to be too "pointy/fragile" to use for a steel version....I'm back to the drawing board and working on version 2.0....practice practice practice.....

Very well done, I would bet aluminum would hold the figure very well. The problem is that aluminum is so soft!

Somehow I thought it will be bigger and in that case the thinning wouldn't be a problem...

It's about 2 inches by 2 inches right now...any bigger than that and you could actually use it to fish(for robots ha ha) its not so much the thickness of the pendant that is an issue but the points/tapers. Pretty much no matter how you slice it. A hook is going to have a point of somekind on it.

Whether you do a second version or not this is still totally wicked cool. The resin and metallic treatment really gives it an industrial futuristic look. Definitely Mad Max meats Blade Runner. Can't wait to see the next version!

Thanks Mwolf! Glad you dig it. Its funny because I feel like I'm learning all over from scratch again. I had bone carving down pretty well but this is a whole different beast.

thank you! me too! its tricky not having any parts of the design get too thin(i.e. the metal will snap) a hook is basically a curve with a bunch of thin parts, ha ha
