I have had quite a few requests for steam punk themed jewelery, but have shied away from it. Partially because of the massive saturation it is currently experiencing due to its popularity, and partially because much of what is available makes no sense to me. Slapping a single gear on something that provides no function just doesn't do it for me. Sooooooo I gave this a shot, and created a homage to someone I consider to be the grand daddy of all steam punkers. I wondered what a kind of pendant would Captain Nemo wear, full of turning gears, port holes, anchors and structural supports, and this is what I came up with. A mechanical hei matau, stainless steel infused with bronze coloring.(sadly, I designed this to be able to move, the gears actually interlock/pass through the frame, but the fabrication company couldn't pull off the tolerances so it had to be fussed together sad sad Nemo shakes his fist at the world)
*if it tickles your fancy it is available for $55 in stainless, gold plated, or bronze. It is guaranteed to be giant squid proof, and if you find this to be untrue by actually testing it against a giant squid I will give you a full refund. Picture/video proof required
I really like your things including this one also! What I'm missing is the handwork... I mean this is flawless, looks awesome and lacks the naturality of your carvings, what I like the most. It's little bit sterile for me. Otherwise I would do anything to see it carved out from bone! (well almost anything )
Thanks man! Yeah its a tricky teeter totter....carving by hand does give everything a more organic look....practice makes perfect....or in this case hopefully one day less perfect, ha ha
woaaaaww *_* the design jars perfekt with the material! and i love the little cog wheels damn, your bone-hooks are so WOOAAAH and these are so WOAAAHHHH, too! you are the master of hooks! ;D you get them made by a company? isnt it very expensive to make just one or two? you have to to do 100000 of them!! and you have to ask jewelry-shops, if they are interested to sell your stuff! I bet my ass that a lot of people would by your art And you are getting rich, because you can sell them as designer-hooks or so xD
Ha ha ha(you have the best enthusiasm in your comments.)
I create them in the computer as 3d models and then send the files to a company that prints them out in 3d. I am poking around looking for a company that does metal casting to see if they can bring the cost down(print out one master pattern and then have it mass produced at a lower price)

time will tell.....thanks for the kind words!
it would be insanely cool if the gears could rotate
