I was challenged awhile back by

[link]

to do my take on the emblem from the Assassin's Creed series. After several weeks of dragging my feet and "doing stuff" I got off my butt and made it happen. Had to slightly augment/thicken the shape of the emblem to make it stronger(shattering in half is a bad thing) Couldn't pull off the floaty upside down wingy thing, cause well....I can carve stuff good....but I can't undo gravity.....

Carved from cow bone.

no worries :) hey just out of curiosity what blades do you use for cutting the shape out of bones? i use Eclipse 18tpi. pretty good . but always on the look out for stronger blades.I bought a brilliant burr the other day its amazing. rips through bone like its cheese .Its called a Tyrolit Tungsten carbide burr..i got a flame head and now ordered a cone and cylider shape well worth getting!!Best ive tried so far

hey P

I started with a jewelers hand saw and then moved to a micro scroll saw, and now I basically just blast the bejesus out of the bone with a dremel bit and sand out the negative shape....I got lazy and hate replacing the saw blades when they snap...ha ha ha....

oh I shalt have to check those out, i have a random hodge podge of around 80 burrs that I rotate through

Wow, cow bone? :wow:
I wish I knew how to carve into bone. How difficult is it?
I'm only able to work with metal at this point in time.

Hey right on, what kind of metal working do you do? Carving in bone is interesting, its like half way between wood and stone. Its hard enough that you can cut sharp details into it, but soft enough that it is still workable. As with anything, it just takes practice practice practice!

I'm only a beginner, so I'm sticking to riveting and such, but what I do, I'm good at it. I can also etch, but I'm still a bit new with that. >__>
I love working in brass, even if it's a bit noisy to saw through. X3
..though sometime when I have spare time in class, I want to make myself a Templar cross pendant out of transparent red Plexiglas. Plexi's so easy to work with, and I adore polishing it. ♥

Goodness, I'm rambling. Sorry. ^^;

Ramble away! Its cool hearing about what your working on! Hey if you like Plexi then your part of the way to working with bone. You cant melt and bend it, but it carves similarly to enamel..
